John R. Mcgilvary

John R. McGilvary, Jr., 70, of 67 South River Road, Bedford, died July 30, 2003, at Catholic Medical Center.<br><br>He was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on January 9, 1933, the son of John R. and Bertha Amelia (Newman) McGilvary, Sr., and was raised and brought up in Woburn, Ma., before moving to Bedford 30 years ago. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. John was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned and operated John R. McGilvary, Jr. & Son Inc. for 48 years.<br><br>Family members include his wife of 50 years Doris (Laskey) McGilvary of Bedford, three sons, John McGilvary, III of Bedford, Michael McGilvary of Montana and Steven McGilvary of Bedord, four grandchildren, one brother William McGilvary of Woburn, Ma., several nieces, nephews and cousins.<br><br>SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematory, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Sunday from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Elizabeth Seton Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
