John Joseph Palermo

John Joseph Palermo, 80, of Derry, NH, passed away on December 16, 2024 at Catholic Medical Center. Born in Lawrence, MA on January 23, 1944, he was a son of the late Guy and Florence (Horrigan) Palermo.

John was raised in Salem, NH and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA. In his younger years, he worked as a mechanic in the family garage, Palermo Motors. He developed a lifelong interest in doing automotive work and could often be found tinkering with cars in the driveway. He had a long career as an insurance adjuster, retiring last month.

John was a very sociable and outgoing person. He loved to spend time making special memories with his family, especially taking trips to Pease Air Force Base to see the Blue Angels and trips to Canobie Lake Park in the summer with his daughters, and eventually his grandchildren. John will be greatly missed and will be remembered as a hardworking man who always went out of his way to help his family and friends.

John is survived by his daughters, Patricia Palermo of Manchester and Regina Sanders and her husband Gregory of Candia; his brothers, David Palermo and his wife Tricia of Ocala, FL and Michael Palermo and his wife Janet of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Michelle, Bridget and Andrew; his former wife and longtime friend, Annette Palermo; his significant other, Anne Plumb and her daughter, Sarah; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Joseph Guy Palermo, and his sister, Rosemary Reina.

Services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024. Welcome at 10 am, Memorial Mass at 10:45 am at St. Peter Church, 567 Manchester Road, Auburn NH, 03032. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the American Diabetes Association https://diabetes.org/ or the American Heart Association https://www.heart.org/ in his memory.
