John Philie

Mr. John Philie, 74, of Manchester, NH died unexpectedly April 13, 2010 at his home in Manchester. He was born on June 13, 1935 in Saint Isidore d’Auckland, Canada the son of the late Adrien and Fenela (Douillard) Philie. He was raised and educated in Canada. Mr. Philie served in the Canadian Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a longtime member of the American Legion in Canaan, VT. Mr. Philie worked in law enforcement for 15 years. He was a police officer and sheriff in Canaan, Vermont. John was a hard working man. He worked in many other fields besides law enforcement including carpentry, volunteer fireman and a security guard in Florida and Manchester. John was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending days at his camp in Allenstown, wintering in Florida and gold prospecting. John was a collector of many things. He also enjoyed operating his tractor and other equipment. He was always around to help others when they were in need. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog and cat. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie Claire (Rouleau) Philie of Manchester; son, Danny Philie of Manchester; 3 daughters, Suzanne Harvey of Manchester, Cindy Kaczmarski of Merrimack and Sally Comer of Manchester; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Roger Philie of Sherbrooke, Canada; sister, Cecile Boudeau of Granby, Canada and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His Memorial Gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Sunday from 4-8PM. His Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday at 10:00AM. Donations in John’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall St, Suite 105, Manchester, NH 03101.
