John Joseph Planchak

John Joseph Planchak, 83, of Manchester, passed away on September 2, 2025, at Catholic Medical Center in his daughter's arms.

He was born in Houston, TX on August 25, 1942, the son of the late John and June (Hunkler) Planchak. He was a United States Army Veteran. After college, John earned two masters degrees; one from Boston College and the other from the University of North Florida. For most of his career, John worked as an Education Officer and contractor for the United States Air Force and Navy. Earlier in his life he attended La Sallette Seminary. He was an avid reader and very handy around the house; he could fix anything.

Family members include his wife, Maureen (Joyce) Planchak; four sons, Gregory Planchak and his spouse Chrissie of Harrogate, England, Mark Planchak and his spouse Michelle of Bangor, ME; Matthew Planchak and his spouse Cari Kornblit of Pittsburgh, PA; and Alex Planchak of Denver, CO; his daughter, Linda Reardon of Amherst; eleven grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Ian, Connor, Emily, Sean, Aidan, Maddie, Devin, Geraldine, and Rhys; a sister, Pat Raney and her husband Rick of Cistern, TX; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Sunday, September 7th from 2 PM to 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 8th at 11:00 in St. Pius X Church, Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
