John Ramos, 81, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023 at Elliot Hospital following a long period of declining health, battling Lewy Body Dementia. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico on January 4, 1942, he was a son of the late Anastacio and Maria (Arroyo) Ramos. He shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his late wife, Carmen (Guzman) Ramos.
John spent his early childhood in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City as an adolescent. It was there that he met his wife, Carmen, and together they started their family. After relocating to New Hampshire in the late 1960’s, John worked for Velcro as a machine operator for nearly 20 years before pursuing his passion for driving and working as an airport chauffeur. He was the proud owner and operator of his own company, John’s Airport Service.
John lived a full and exciting life and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John was known for his love of fishing, baseball, food, and driving. He was a social butterfly with quite the humor and loved spending time with family and friends, often over a good meal. John enjoyed his work and was passionate about it. John's love for the outdoors was evident through his love for camping trips with his family and fishing. He cherished the memories made during these trips and often talked about them with a smile on his face.
John is survived by his children, Jeanette Rosa of Manchester, NH, John Ramos Jr. of Hudson, NH, Linda Palmer and her husband Bill of Hooksett, NH, Rafael Ramos of Manchester, NH, Peter Ramos of Manchester, NH and Deborah Morton of Goffstown, NH; his siblings, Peter Ramos of Minnesota, Maria LaPlante of Texas and Anastacio (Harry) Ramos Jr. of Washington; his grandchildren, Rose Muñiz, Ada Winchester, Jenny Robles, Rafael Robles, Todd Burley, Joshua Messier, Danny Ramos Jr, Ryan Anastacio Ramos, Candace Ramos, Elijah Ramos, Zachary Ramos, Alyssa Palmer, Carmen Ramos, Christopher Ramos, Carter Ramos, Briyanna Allen, and Liam Morton; many great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
John was predeceased by his brother Herbert (Eddie) Ramos, son, Danny Ramos, and his daughter, Dorothy Ramos.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, which will be shared with family and friends.
