John E. Robie, 73, of 25 Chester Road, Derry, died September 22, 2004 at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Londonderry on September 19, 1931, the son of the late Edison and Nancy (Hurd) Robie and had been a resident of Derry for most of his life. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. For most of his career, he was a master finish carpenter, a craft which he taught to his boy. He loved nature and took pride in his vegetable garden. He was a member of the American Legion Post 9 in Derry. He was a noble man who selflessly loved others. Family members include his wife of 51 years, Roberta (Lewis) Robie; a son, Jeffrey John Robie of New Ipswich; two daughters, Mrs. Karl (Lynne Laura) Szulczewski of MI and Lisa Anne Riley of NH; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; four brothers, Gordon Robie of SC, Walter Robie of Derry, Robert Robie of Concord and William Robie of NH; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. In His Life: John was a beloved husband to his wife, Roberta and they had a deep and enduring marriage for over half a century. He enjoyed spending time with his only daughter-in-law, Judith Ann and loved his grandchildren, Jarred Edison (and his wife Aly), Brooke Barbara, Jacob Jeffrey and Jamie Lee and his step-grandchildren, Jessica Marie and James Josef Myshrall. Later in life, John became very close to his brother in law, Richard Lewis. To know John was to like and respect him. He will be remembered always. A calling hour will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday from 2 to 3 PM.
