Bedford â John C. Solloway, 79, died October 4, 2014 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH following a long illness.
He was born on May 6, 1935 in Manchester, NH the son of the late John and Lillian B. (Cote) Solloway. John was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Solloway. He was raised and educated in Manchester, graduating from Central High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of NH.
Mr. Solloway served as a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1960.
He lived in Salem, NH for many years while working and raising his family. Later he moved to Clearwater, FL and moved back to the Manchester area and finally residing at Bedford Falls Assisted Living.
John worked as a chemical engineer at GE, AVCO/Textron in Wilmington and Lowell. He retired after 34 years in 1996 from Textron.
He loved playing golf and was a semi-pro player, boating and spending time with his family. John was a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Plamondon) Solloway of Bedford, NH; his five children, John and Lisa Solloway of Manchester, Jeffrey and Priscilla Solloway of Rentz, GA, James and Kim Solloway of Derry, NH, Jill and Phil Hughes of Auburn and Joseph and Elise Solloway of Sandown, NH; 10 grandchildren, Josh, Amanda, Adam, Eric, Meagan, JJ, Philip, Morgan, Jarrod and Jenna, and three great grandchildren Emeline, Jude and Leah and many nieces and nephews.
