John K. Webb

JOHN K. WEBB John K. Webb, 76, of Amherst, NH, died January 24, 2008, at Elliot Hospital, in Manchester. Mr. Webb was born on May 18, 1931, in Greeley, Kansas, the son of the late A. Kenneth and Grace M. (Baker) Webb. He was a resident of Amherst since 1967. Prior to this he lived in Utica, NY, Oklahoma City, OK and Camillus, NY. Mr. Webb worked as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1993, including 27 years for the MITRE Corporation. His area of specialization was radio engineering and he was well known among associates and friends in his field for his contributions and innovation in this field. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Webb was a licensed amateur radio operator for sixty years, a member and former Commodore of the Massabesic Yacht Club, and an enthusiastic member of the Silver Streaks Ski Club of Waterville Valley. Over his lifetime, Mr. Webb enjoyed many hobbies and interests including photography, private aviation and antique watch repair. Members of his family include his son, Kenneth Webb, of Wolfeboro, NH; 2 daughters, Kathryn Hladik, of Buckfield, ME; Barbara Michener, of Mansfield, MA; 5 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Ralph Webb, of State College, PA. Mr. Webb is pre-deceased by his wife of 38 years, Ann Marie Heiser Webb. A time of gathering will be Wednesday, January 30, from 12:30 PM – 1 P.M. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1 P.M. The Reverend Richard Leavitt, Pastor of the Amherst Congregational Church, will officiate the service. Spring burial will take place at Meadowview Cemetery, in Amherst. It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to The American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101, in memory of Mr. Webb.
