Jonathan P. Valpey, 47, of Manchester, passed away on June 5, 2011 in Newton, MA as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Framingham, MA on June 14, 1963, the son of Richard S. and Evelyn (Ossinger) Valpey, Sr., and had been a Manchester area resident since 2000. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served in Afghanistan. He was a chef and owned his own catering company in VA. More recently, he had been working as a chef for Mt. Carmel Nursing Home. He loved boating, fishing, spending time on the water, and singing Karaoke. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and his dog, Lacey. He was a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post and belonged to the Manchester Christian Church.
In His Life: Family members include his wife and best friend of 11 years whom he loved very much, Kathleen (Krawiec) Valpey; his mother of Bourne, MA; three brothers, Richard Valpey of Chicago, IL, Doug Valpey of Warner, and Scott Valpey of Fairpoint, NY; several nephews, nieces, one uncle, aunts and cousins.
Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 PM. Committal services with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
