Jorge “George” Quiles of Nashua, NH, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home, on November 7, 2025. Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico on February 1, 1932, he was the son of (the late) Juan Quiles and Evangelista Perez.
Jorge grew up in Puerto Rico with his large family of eight brothers, one sister, his mother, and his father. When he was a teenager, he left Puerto Rico to move to the States and live with a few of his brothers who had moved prior.
In 1961, Jorge married the love of his life, Sylvia; they began their lives together in New York, where Jorge worked as a truck driver for Engels Trucking Corporation for thirty-five years. Upon moving to New Hampshire in 1991, he continued to pursue his love of driving and worked for Napa Auto Parts and Northern Foreign Car Parts. When not driving professionally, Jorge enjoyed caring for his personal cars, keeping them in tip top condition.
Jorge is the embodiment of the term “family man”. He took great pride in providing for his family and caring for his homestead. Jorge was a doting husband to his late wife, Sylvia. Together they danced, ate, vacationed, and maintained a deeply loving home in which they raised their 2 daughters. Jorge cared for Sylvia until she passed away in 2021, the year of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Jorge was also a loving father, one who: drove into Manhattan at night on a moment’s notice if his daughters needed a ride, rode rollercoasters with them (despite not being a fan!), patiently taught them how to drive, and carpooled them to their various activities. He adored his grandchildren and was lucky enough to meet 2 of his great-grandchildren.
Upon retirement, Jorge continued to keep busy by working diligently around his house and yard. Staying active kept Jorge young and agile; he simply could not keep still. He loved to be outdoors and even in his 90s, Jorge could be found cutting the grass and trimming the forsythia bushes in his backyard, much to the chagrin of his daughters. Jorge also loved animals, especially dogs. In recent years, his neighbors would see him on his daily walks with Daisy, his doggie sidekick. Daisy, Sandy, Pebbles, and Lucky were waiting for Jorge at the Rainbow Bridge and ran to him once he appeared.
Jorge was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in Nashua where he volunteered as an usher as much as he could. He could often be found sitting in the back of the church in quiet prayer.
Jorge was loved by all who knew him and was well known by many in the Nashua area. His lively spirit and gentle nature will be missed.
Jorge is pre-deceased by his beautiful wife Sylvia. They are together now and are celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary in their eternal home.
From his marriage to Sylvia, Jorge is survived by his daughters, Leticia Quiles and her husband Michael von Dadelszen, and Irina Owens and her husband Daniel Owens; grandchildren Stephen George Quiles Lowther and his wife Gabrielle Carberry Lowther, Cameron Joseph Quiles Lowther and his wife Riva Foss, Alexandria Elizabeth Quiles Lowther, Taylor Ryan Owens, Marin Elisabeth Zorn and her husband Patch Zorn, and Cole Patrick Owens; step-grandchildren Tim von Dadelszen, Richard von Dadelszen, and Anna Price and their families; great-grandchildren George Michael Quiles Lowther and Carter Daniel Zorn; brothers Efrain and Erasmo Quiles, and many loving extended family members and friends.
Jorge is also survived by his daughter from his first marriage, Maria Zacharoff and her husband Kevin Zacharoff, and his granddaughter, Rabbi Allyson Zacharoff.
