It is with sadness we announce that Joseph A. Bisson Sr., 92, passed away the Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster, NH on January 25, 2024. He was born in Dalton, NH on March 21, 1931, to parents, Etienne and Rose (Alma) “Anna” Bisson.

Known as ‘Al’ to most, he grew up locally learning to fish, farm, and hunt, all activities he loved. He was also known to enjoy a game of Bingo.

Joseph worked as a farm hand until he joined the Army in 1952 at the age of 21. After he completed basic training, he was sent to fight in the Korean War. During his time in the service, he was awarded the: Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.  He served with E company 9th Infantry Regiment out of Fort Dix, NJ. Later in life he moved out west to live in Colorado and Wyoming working in construction.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth Bisson and Albert Bisson, step-son, David Newton, and daughter, Jenny Bisson.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Bisson Jr. and his wife, Nancy, his daughter, Joanne and her husband, Ernest, and his brother, Ed Bisson, along with 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The family gives thanks to the Country Village Nursing Home for the great care they gave to Joseph. In lieu of flowers, any donations in Joseph’s name can be made to the Country Village Nursing Home at 91 Country Village Road, Lancaster, NH 03584.

A graveside service will be held at the St. Matthew’s Cemetery on Tuesday, May 21 beginning at 11AM with Father Britto officiating.

Notes on cemetery location: It is across from Ridgeview Terrace. It is on the townline between Dalton and Whitefield on Elm St which becomes Whitefield Rd in Dalton. It is on the west side of Elm St.
