Joseph F Jean

Joseph Jean was born 27 May 1928 in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he lived for a great deal of his life. His father was Ernest Jean and his mother was Alexina (Michaud) Jean.
He was predeceased by his father in June 1999, his mother in December 1976 and a brother Robert E. Jean, his only sibling, who died in March 1972.
Mr. Jean attended the St. Peter Kindergarten, St. John the Baptist grammar school, Manchester West High School and St. Anselm College where he graduated, Summa Cum Laude, as a member of the class of 1953.
He did advanced studies and graduate studies at Northeastern University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University Of California Los Angeles, the U.S. Armed Forces Institute and the City College of Santa Monica, California. He was a participant in, and teacher of, several corporate courses and seminars in engineering, economics and finance. He was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at The RAND Corporation of Santa Monica California, the MITRE Corporation of Bedford Massachusetts, several locations of The General Electric Corporation and several locations for GTE (now General Dynamics Corporation and Verizon Corporation).
He was a member of AARP, the Association of Computer Manufacturers, CMC Prime Time, the Franco American Center, the Sweeney Post of The American Legion and the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society Tau Chapter while he was at Saint Anselm College. He was a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet, the President's Society and the Founder's Society in the Saint Anselm College Alumni Association. In addition, he was a member of the Endowment Society, the Golden Anselmian Society and established the Father Arthur Oleary Endowment Fund. During the Korean War, he was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard of the US Army's Third Infantry Regiment stationed in Washington DC. He was a Communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic parish in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Joseph will be remembered as a kind and generous man, well known for his philanthropy. He leaves behind many cousins and longtime good friends who will love and miss him always. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff and nurses at Ridgewood Nursing Home for the excellent care and love that was shown to Joseph. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Joseph Jean Scholarship at St. Anselm.
Services: On Monday, May 19, 2014, visitation will be available at Saint Anselm Abbey100 Saint Anselm Drive Manchester, NH from 9:30 am to 10am with a funeral mass starting at 10am. Luncheon will immediately follow at Davison Hall. Interment will be at New Hampshire Veterans State Cemetery 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH at 2pm with military honors.
