Joseph (Jay) Warren Kraby Jr.

Joseph (Jay) Warren Kraby Jr. , 78 years old, died Saturday April 5, 2025 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL. He was born on May 11, 1946 in Boston, MA. He was the son of Joseph Warren Kraby, Sr. and Dorothy Marion Ferrara Kraby.

He was the husband of Kimberly (Kim) Alonzo Kraby, and they were married November 15, 1969 in Revere, MA.

Jay graduated from Revere High School in 1963. He volunteered for the US Army and was sent to serve in the Vietnam War in 1967. He served as SP4 and was discharged honorably in 1968. He met his future wife Kim Alonzo whom he married on November 11, 1969. They spent 55 years together. He worked as a bartender for some years before he became a USPS letter carrier in Boston. He worked for the Post Office from 1972 to the year he retired, 2005.

Jay and Kim moved to North Fort Myers, FL in 2005. They spent 20 years as “snowbirds” spending their winters in Florida and their summers on Squam Lake in Holderness, NH.

His time in Florida was spent playing softball, tennis, and pool all which he excelled at. He was active in Lake Fairways, the first community he and Kim lived in, planning activities as he volunteered to serve on the entertainment committee and heading up the tennis and pool teams. In New Hampshire boating was their favorite pastime and hobby. He helped out the Squam community by organizing their poker run and coordinating the mosquito control application for the campground as well as serving on the finance committee.

Jay was an avid sports fan, watching and attending games of all his favorite Boston teams.

He is predeceased by his father, mother, brother Michael, and niece Brittany.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Kim, son Daniel James Kraby and his wife Lourdes, daughters Shahla Marie Kraby and Melissa Katherine Martin. He leaves his brother Richard Kraby and wife Marianna, sisters Elaine “Pic” Ferrara, Karen Kraby Mower and husband Don, as well as Barbara Kraby Costantino and husband Budd, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A cemetery service will be held on Monday, April 21st at 1 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. Mourners are welcome to gather at Alan’s Restaurant in Boscawen, NH after the interment ceremony.
