Joseph Gerard (Gerry) Ouellette, 58, of 429 Cartier St., died January 14, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center following a long illness. He was born in Madawaska, ME on February 20, 1941, the son of the late Joseph and Laura (Cyr) Ouellette and had been a Manchester resident for the past 24 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had been employed as a school bus driver for Goffstown Trucking until his illness caused his retirement. Prior to that, he has been a self-employed woodworker for 35 years. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church. He was an avid woodworker. He was a devoted husband and father and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Family members include his wife of 35 years, Georgette (Therrien) Ouellette; three daughters, Mrs. Mick (Nika) Hipsher, Mrs. Stephen (Sandra) LaRose and Mrs. Joseph (Karrie) Manning, all of Manchester; seven grandchildren; a brother, Gilman Ouellette of Weare; eight sisters, Lorraine Colburn of Hillsboro; Laurette Wilkins of Hillsboro, Germaine Desmarais of Wilton, Tina DiGianni, Marcella DiGianni and Marie O'Hayes, all of CT, Doris Sisson of OK and Marie Paige of ME; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 in St. Patrick Church. Spring burial will take place in Harvey Memorial Cemetery in Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 132 Middle Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
