Joseph “Joe” P. Yuscavage died peacefully on November 8, 2024 with his wife and sons at his side.
Joe was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 26, 1931, the son of John and Mary (Baksevitch) Yuscavage. He grew up in Bridgeport, graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical School, completed college studies and worked in Connecticut for several years.
In 1972 he married Ann Marie and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage living in Manchester, NH. Joe retired from the State of NH Division of Vocational Rehabilitation after 20 years as a disability examiner.
Joe was a first generation Lithuanian and was very proud of his Lithuanian heritage which he eagerly shared with relatives and friends. With developments in technology, he was now able to communicate with his family there. He had visited back in the 60’s and only had photos and memories until now.
Joe had many interests. He enjoyed drawing, especially cartooning. He was a great photographer and took a camera on excursions where he knew he would get wonderful shots of nature and architecture. In the fall especially, every trip throughout the state meant many stops along the wayside where he would capture the beauty of the fall foliage.
Summer vacations in Maine with his family were one of the highlights of each year.
After retirement, Joe became the cook in the family. He could make a leftover into a gourmet delight.
He was brave enough to wear a Yankee cap in Red Sox territory.
Joe was predeceased by his parents and an older brother, John, who died at birth. He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Yuscavage; his son Peter and wife Jacqueline; his son Gerald; his granddaughter Dahlia Yuscavage and his grandson Theodore Yuscavage. He also leaves behind his nephew Kevin Corcoran and niece Lisa Corcoran and their spouses; as well as many cousins here and in Lithuania. And we can’t forget his feline companion, Maxwell.
He left these words for us to ponder: “He did what he could with what he had”.
May his memory be a blessing for all left behind.
There are no calling hours. The burial service will be private in the spring of 2025.
For those who wish, the family suggests donations be made to Parish of the Transfiguration Food Pantry, 107 Alsace Street, Manchester, NH 03102.
Assisting with arrangements is Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester. To view Joe’s online tribute, send condolences to his family, or for more information, visit https://phaneuf.net
