Joshua John Heins, 35, of Concord, NH, died December 7, 2021, at Concord Hospital due to complications from the Coronavirus. He was born May 12, 1986, in Concord, the son of Rick and Rhonda (Piper) Heins. Josh graduated from Merrimack Valley School District in 2004, where he was a member of the Tennis team. He attended Southern New Hampshire University where he received culinary training. He later went on to earn his LNA license driven by the desire to help those in need. Josh had a huge heart.
Josh was an avid New England sports fan and was especially fond of cheering on the Celtics and the Patriots. More often than not you could find him wearing a shirt proudly displaying his affinity for the Boston teams. As a kid, he spent hours with his father tearing open packs of basketball cards hoping to find a rookie card or some other rare find. On game days, well into adulthood, he could be found enjoying a heaping plate of homemade mac and cheese and rooting on the home team with his mom. Some of his fondest memories were of summers spent in York Beach, ME slurping slushies and playing games at Fun-o-Rama. Josh was always a playful guy.
While working at the local convenience stores over the past several years, Josh had the opportunity to meet and connect with people- both colleagues and customers alike- many of whom became his close friends. He had a warm open smile and always made time to chat with people about their day, their family, and the most recent sporting event. Josh loved music, video games, and even fulfilled a dream of skydiving. Josh was a hard worker, a good friend, and a kind soul.
Josh is survived by his parents Rick and Rhonda (Piper) Heins along with his stepmother Robin (Reagan) Heins; his “sister bear”, Krystal (Heins) Searah, and her husband, Shaun, and their children, Josh’s nephews, Gibson and Gordon; and his stepsister, Jennifer (Martin) Angus and her family. He is also survived by his beautiful son, Joshua Patrick whom he cherished. He leaves his paternal grandparents, Deitz and Cheryl (Stevenson) Heins along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday, December 15th 10:00-11:00am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Memorial service will be held at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel, followed immediately by committal at Blossom Hill Cemetery, 207 N State Street in Concord. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the family’s favorite charity, the Gavin Foundation, 675 East Fourth Street, Boston, MA 02127 in Josh’s memory.
