Canterbury - Joy C. Hanington, 80, died, January 22, 2021 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 17, 1940 in Medford, Massachusetts a daughter of Herbert and Bea (Richards) Hanington. As a child Joy spent many summers on Lake Winnepesaukee and her love for that area carried into adulthood.

Joy worked for many years in the human resources department at Concord State Hospital. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her pets as well as enjoying the seacoast and growing flowers in her gardens. She was also an avid reader and had a special interest in Egyptian archeology and her Irish heritage.

She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Hanington, two sisters Jeanne McDonald and Lorraine Theriault and a son David Theriault.

Survivors include three sons, Duane and his wife Kimberly Theriault of Barrington, NH, Daniel and his wife Ann Theriault of Manchester, Daron and his wife Donna Theriault of Deerfield, a daughter Rhonda Theriault of Pembroke, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Concord VNA Hospice for the loving care they provided to Joy.

A memorial service for Joy will held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joy's memory to Concord VNA Hospice Program.
