Joyce Hamer Bowron

Joyce Harrison Hamer of Concord, NH passed away peacefully May 10, 2009 at the Hospice Home, Concord NH at age 83. She was born in Newbiggin-By Sea, England to Nancy (Harrison) and Frederick Gill on July 28, 1925. On June 5, 1948 she married Edward (Ted) George Hamer and they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage until his death in 1983. She was remarried on January 4, 1991 to Derek Frederick Bowron who passed away in 2005. Joyce and her family immigrated to the Maryland in 1955 when Ted took a job with Westinghouse as an Engineer. They moved back to England in 1964 for two years for Ted's work and then back to Maryland in 1966. In 1967 Ted took a new job as an Engineering Manager for Sanders Associates of Nashua NH so they moved to Dow Rd in Hollis NH. In 1991, Eight years after Ted's death, Joyce married Derek Bowron and moved to Rothbury, England. She returned to the United States in May of 2004 after Derek's death and took up residence at the Pleasant View Retirement Home Apartments in Concord NH. She leaves her loving family: Elizabeth Ann of Washington NH; Edward John Hamer and Jane K Thomson of Petaluma CA, Richard Charles Hamer and his wife Gloria Ann Hamer of Colorado Springs, CO. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren and their families: Valerie Michelle Marvel and her children Mathew, Sarah, and Crystal all of Nashua and Steve of Texas; Melissa Ann Rebecca Hutchinson and her husband Timothy and their daughter Leah, all of Rhode Island; Mary Elizabeth Vincent of Massachusetts Daniel Patrick Vincent of Washington NH. Joyce's great love was her family and her singing. She was a member of several choral groups over the years and spent many happy hours performing for Retirement Communities and Care Facilities in the United States of America and England. She owned and operated the Enchanted Doll House in Hollis NH over most of the 1970's. She also spent a great deal of time caring for her Mother and both of her Husbands. She lived a long life and was grateful for every minute. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday May 16 at the Grace Episcopal Church, 30 Eastman St, Concord, NH. Burial will be at 12noon at the East Cemetery, Wheeler Road, Hollis, NH.
