JOYCE STANLEY NORTHROP
LISBON, NH Joyce S. Northrop, age 93, died at her home surrounded by her large and loving family on February 6, 2008.
Joyce was born November 10, 1914 in Enosburg Falls, VT, the daughter of Azro B. and Alma Laflame Stanley. She graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1932 and worked as a bookkeeper in St. Albans and Enosburg Falls until her marriage in 1937 to John H. Chappie Northrop of Fairfield, VT. They resided in Enosburg Falls until 1968 when they moved to Lisbon, NH to be near their son and his family. Following the death of her husband in 1972, Joyce spent a year in Hawaii with her daughter, Sue, and family. Upon her return, she resumed her bookkeeping career, working at Northrops Market for the next thirty years. Joyce enjoyed her years with the senior citizens group, and was named Grafton County Senior of the Year in 1977. She loved playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles, was an avid Red Sox fan, and was happiest when surrounded by family.
She is survived by her four children, Sally Pederson of Boston, MA; John H. Northrop, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Lisbon, NH; Suzanne McPherson and her husband, Doug, of Salt Lake City, UT: and Mary Northrop of Littleton, NH and her partner, Ray Giroux; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two nephews, and a very special niece, Patricia Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband, brother, and parents.
SERVICES There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of her Life will take place in the spring.
