Joyce Walker Norton, 88, of Springville, PA died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born May 30, 1935, in Holland, VT, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Ruth (Hull) Walker.
Joyce was a 1954 graduate of Brighton High School in Island Pond, VT. She married Robert Andrews on October 8, 1955 and celebrated 55 years of marriage with Robert before his death on January 21, 2011. She was employed as a warehouse manager and customer service representative for the Connors and Hoffman Footwear Company of Littleton, NH, until it closed in 1983. She then went to work for White Mountains by Conners Shoe Factory in Lisbon, NH, retiring in the spring of 2000. In 2001, Joyce and Robert traveled across the United States for a year, seeing 48 states, ending in Florida for the winter. Every winter was spent in Florida until Robert's passing.
Joyce married Nevin Norton on September 1, 2012. Nevin's wife, Mary, passed away in June of 2011. Nevin and Joyce met in Florida. They would have celebrated 12 years of marriage this September.
She was a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion, Strong Norse Post 68, and the Howard Shawney VFW Post 816 of Littleton, NH. Nevin and Joyce enjoyed playing bingo together. She loved to cook and bake, often baking for her family and neighbors in Florida. Joyce was an avid bird watcher, and especially loved hummingbirds. She loved touring the Ocala National Forest.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Robert, Joyce is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Andrews; sister, Ruby E. and her husband, Henry Bumps; two brothers, Harold Walker and his wife, Irene Walker, and Lawrence Walker; brother and sister-in-law, William and Vera Andrews. She is also predeceased by her nephew, Ronald Bumps.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Nevin Norton; daughter, Kimberley (Michael) Lombardi, of Littleton, NH; two granddaughters, Nicole (Nicholas) Ballard of Littleton, NH, and Michelle (William) Burchett of Pennington Gap, VA; five great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Lombardi, Rebekah and Morgan Ballard, and Robert and Mackenzie Burchett; step-children and their children, Marie (Sonny) Polk, Harry Swank, and Barbara Fisher, all from PA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
