Juanita "Neen" G. Hubbard

Juanita Hubbard, 96, passed away at the Summit in Whitefield, NH on July 30, 2026. She was also fondly known as “Mother Hubbard,” “Ma,” and “Skeet” (by her sisters, nieces, and nephews), and “Neen “(a name given her by her oldest grandson).

What an amazing/wonderful woman she was! She brought much delight to all those who knew her. She shared many stories of her childhood – her family packing a few bags and moving often, as her father was a sawmill worker and when one job was done – the family moved to the next. She graduated from Littleton High School - class of 1948, where she was a member of the basketball team. She worked at First National Bank until she married Durward in 1950. They bought and carried on the family farm “Elmwood Farm” in Lyman, NH. They had six children, Jean (Wayne), Don (Jackie), Rick (Wanda), Russ (Teri), Wendy (Fay) and Darren (Beth).

She was an incredibly hard worker on their farm, physical labor, running equipment, doing the bookkeeping for the farm where they raised their family and had a dairy operation, until their retirement in 1993. She moved to the Lisbon Inn, where she resided for 10 yrs, making many friends there and then moved to the Summit in Whitefield for the last 6 months- again making many residents and staff friends. She was a member of the Lyman Grange and involved in the community by sitting on the Lisbon school board for many years.

Juanita later decided to return back to work at the Littleton Stamp & Coin and NEWT (the wire mill) when she was in her 70s (“ just for something to do” ). She was proud of her children’s accomplishments. As the years went on, she welcomed children-in-laws, became a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great-great grandmother. Much happiness she had by being able to babysit for all her grandchildren, being involved and enjoying time with each of them. She was an avid basketball fan, following her children and grandchildren in their sports. As of late, she has found much delight in seeing the great and great-great grandchildren come into her life and watching them grow. She will be remembered for her kind and fair spirit.

She is predeceased by her husband, Durward, two sisters, Alice Greenwood and Beverly Emmons Richotte, a daughter, Jean Mardin, 2 daughters-in-laws, Doris Brooks Hubbard and Lucy Hubbard, and a grandson, Josh Mardin.

She is survived by her five children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many special nieces (involved with “Skeet” until she passed) and nephews.

Ultimately, for Juanita the most important part of life were her friends and relatives - (old and new), there are too many to name – but from the heart: YOU all know… who YOU are, and we appreciate YOU for your kindness and friendship to Mom.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Summit. Mom was welcomed into, yet another family. She enjoyed her resident friends, the staff were amazing, working very hard and sharing kind hearts to make her part of the family - she formed many bonds with the special people while at the Summit - again, no names, YOU know who YOU are. Thank you to those on the hospice team that gave of their time to care for Mom.

There will be a celebration of life at the Landaff Town Hall, Sunday, August 23rd from 1PM to 4PM. The burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers for those who desire, the family has set up a memorial account: “Nita Hubbard” at Mascoma Bank, 8 Main St, Littleton, NH 03561. The funds will honor some of the staff at the Summit and Hospice, who cared for “Neen”.
