Judith Mary Madden, lovingly known as Judy, was born on April 12, 1940, in Manchester, NH, where she spent her formative years. Judy passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched the lives of many.
Judy graduated from St. Anthony High School in Manchester. Shortly after graduating, she met the love of her life, Harold.
For 25 years Judy worked at the Manchester YWCA where her role as a fitness instructor and Health Promotions Director allowed her to inspire countless individuals through her infectious energy and unwavering commitment to health and well-being.
Demonstrating her zest for life-long learning, she returned to school. She graduated from New Hampshire Community Technical College – Manchester earning a Health Promotions Degree and an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Hanover Hill Health Care Center. There, she was admired not only for her professional skills but also for her deep compassion and kindness towards all those in her care.
In her retirement, she spent time traveling at home and abroad. She was particularly fond of spending winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and summers boating and fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee. She was an avid gardener and dedicated countless hours to cultivating her beautiful sunken garden which brought her immense peace, pride, and joy.
Known for her warm and outgoing personality, Judy had a genuine interest in everyone she met. She cherished the time spent with her family and treasured her friendships that spanned many years.
Judy was most passionate about her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Harold (Harry), her children Pamela Laflamme and her husband Richard, Kelly St Hilaire and her husband Kenneth and Kenneth Madden and his wife Melissa. She cherished her grandchildren Stephanie Nichols, Collin Laflamme, Michael Laflamme, Lauren St Hilaire, Ryan St Hilaire, Jeffrey St Hilaire, Megan Madden, and Sean Madden as well as her five great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Dr Norman Michaud, his wife Anna, a niece and several nephews. Judy's life was also enriched by countless life-long friends who were like family to her.
Judy was preceded in death by her father Lucien Michaud, her mother Germaine (Houle) Michaud and her twin brother, who died at birth. Her remarkable spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
In keeping with Judy's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial gathering will take place from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. Peters Church, 567 Manchester Rd, Auburn, NH 03032, with the mass to follow at 11:00am. The burial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway Boscawen, NH 03303.
