Judith Gertrude Sullivan
“A most perfect human being.”
Judy was the youngest of 7 children born to Frank and Babs Sullivan and easily the most generous, caring and loving child of the whole bunch. Born 8 minutes after her sister Susy, the two of them formed a twins bond that would bind them together for the rest of their lives.
Judy always looked out for Susy. If there was only one cookie on a plate, Judy would let Susy have it. This habit of looking out for others stayed with Judy all her life.
Judy adored her big brother Tommy. She followed him around and became his faithful sidekick.
Everywhere she went, Judy turned strangers into friends. She was the most faithful, dependable friend anyone could ever have.
And she loved music, all kinds of music. She taught herself to play both the accordion and the guitar.
When Judy grew older, she proved to be a very hard worker, someone to be counted on. She worked at many different jobs. The ones she loved the most involved taking care of people or pets. She loved animals and usually had a dog or cat following her around. In later years, she trained to be a veterinarian’s assistant but found that most animals were scared to be at the vet’s and she felt too sorry for them to continue working in the field.
Judy loved to party too. But when it began to take over, she fought back and won, many times. But the lure of that elusive “good feeling” chased and bedeviled her. She finally found her self-control at the wonderful Lisa Merlin House in Florida and spent many calm and happy years living and working in the company of close and loving friends.
As the humorist Dave Barry once said, everything in Florida is trying to kill you; what with hurricanes, forest fires, black bears, rattlesnakes, alligators, spiders, fire ants, sharks, panthers, wild boar and oh yeah, it gets hotter than Hades half the year. Judy decided to head back home to New Hampshire, land of luminous lakes and majestic mountains, close relatives, dear friends from her youth and new acquaintances to transform into close friends.
Judy died at home on July 1st, 2025, surrounded by close and loving friends who spent the final weeks and days of her life dedicating their time and love to her in ways huge and small. Sheri, in particular, was Judy’s constant companion. No one could ever rival her fierce determination to shepherd Judy safely and with such great love out of this world and into the next. The Sullivan Family stands indebted to her from now until forever.
