Judith A.
Von Eiff
Jul 20, 1943 — Nov 4, 2026
Manchester, NH
Judith A. “Judie” (Davidson) Von Eiff, 83, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on November 4, 2026. Formerly of White Plains, NY, and Bonita Springs, FL, Judie moved to RiverWoods Manchester in 2022 to be closer to her family. She was born July 20, 1943, in Dover, DE, daughter of the late Ernest A. and Helen A. (Pettyjohn) Davidson.
Raised in Delaware and later a resident of White Plains, New York for more than 30 years, Judie ultimately considered herself a Floridian through and through! After raising her children and co-owning the White Plains Rubber Stamp and Nameplate Co. for many years, Fred and Judie retired to Bonita Springs, FL, where Judie truly found her happy place.
For twenty years, Judie enjoyed the retired lifestyle in Southwest Florida. She never met a bird, a beach, or a palm tree that she didn’t love! She happily shared her home with friends, family, and especially her grandchildren, who loved spending time in Mom-Mom’s pool and chasing lizards around the lanai.
Ever the naturalist, Judie served as a Wildlife Conservation Society Docent at the Bronx Zoo in New York and continued her passion for volunteer work in Florida as a Certified Florida Master Naturalist, a Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary volunteer, and a Turtle Time conservation volunteer on the Gulf coast. An avid birder, she was never far from a pair of binoculars and always had her ears tuned to the trees and her eyes on the skies. She documented sightings of hundreds of species and photographed wildlife and landscapes around the world.
Judie’s favorite pastime was traveling, especially when combining her love of family, friends, photography, and birding. Covering nearly all 50 states and four continents, she was always ready for a new adventure. Early in their marriage, Judie and Fred road tripped all over the US. Together for over 50 years, they also enjoyed incredible excursions to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. Her passion for birding took her all over the globe, from Central and South America to Africa. In later years, Judie and Fred thoroughly enjoyed traveling with their “Florida friends” to Great Britain, Canada, Brazil and Argentina.
There was, however, no place she loved more than the Caribbean. Beyond the beautiful beaches, she also embraced the local art, food, and culture. Her connection to the islands lived on through her vibrant collection of local art and treasured keepsakes. Having visited a dozen islands, her favorite destination was St. John, USVI, where she brought her family for several memorable vacations. With a little help from her family, she, along with Fred, will enjoy their eternity among the palms and enjoying the tropical breezes of the Virgin Islands.
After a life very well lived, Judie is survived by her loving children, Krista and husband, Andrew Hanks of Bow, NH, and George F. “Chip” Von Eiff of Denver, CO; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Ava Rae, and Jacob; her brother, E. Brad Davidson; as well as her nieces.
