June M. (Wurtele) Day, 50, of Auburn, died September 18, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Manchester on June 14, 1957, the daughter of Edgar and Blanche (Therrien) Wurtele and had been a resident of the city for many years before moving to Auburn 21 years ago. She was a graduate of Memorial High School and received her BS Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of New Hampshire. She also attended Emerson College Graduate School. She had taught speech pathology for the Pembroke and Allenstown school districts for over 20 years. Currently she had been employed as a social services coordinator for Community Bridges. In Her Life: She married Byron Day in 1983 and they made their home in Auburn. Their daughter Stephanie was born in 1990. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Church and was a volunteer for numerous church functions. She was also very active at Memorial High School where her daughter attends and belonged to the Memorial High School Booster Club. She was an especially loving and caring wife and mother. She enjoyed summer days at the beach watching her daughter surf and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all. Family members include her husband, Byron and daughter Stephanie; her parents of Manchester; two sisters, Claire Coderre of Manchester and Janice Wurtele of Concord; two brothers, Robert Wurtele of Manchester and Richard Wurtele of Hooksett; eight nieces, Kristine Dionne, Kimberly Popovsky, Justy Wurtele, Abigail Wurtele, Deborah Wenzel, Karen Oliver, Lee Wurtele and Mallory Joel; one nephew, Riley Day; and uncles, aunts and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in the Auburn Village Cemetery.
