June Haywood

June (Zinn) Haywood, age 95, died peacefully at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH on March 19, 2021 after a fall resulting in a head injury.

She was a 1943 graduate of Harrisville High school in "Almost Heaven" West Virginia. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree at West Virginia Wesleyan College and Fairmont State University where she double majored in Biology and Chemistry. June married her hometown sweetheart, Earl, after his return from WWII, on November 27th, 1946. June moved to Massachusetts with her growing family and delighted in her role as a mother and Methodist minister's wife in the towns of Tewksbury, Lexington, West Springfield, Medford and Natick. In addition to her work and devotion to the church, she enjoyed her own career as an administrative assistant in a variety of professions. She prided herself in her ability to learn quickly, with an attention to detail, while maintaining a true humanity, compassion and understanding for others whatever their walk of life. One of her fondest memories was a hot air balloon ride during fall foliage season in Stowe, Vermont gifted to her by co-workers upon her retirement.

June sweetly reminisced about memories with family and friends at her beachside home in Wareham following her retirement. Her generosity of spirit made all welcome in her home at any time. She was steadfastly loyal to her loved ones and her circle of love was endless. June curated a large tablecloth for gatherings with family and friends that was decorated with her meticulous embroidery of their special quotes, signatures and drawings. It was a family treasure, as was she. Never tiring of connection with a sense of community, June participated in the "lunch bunch" gathering at her assisted living facility in Concord, MA, arranged flowers in vases for the dining room decor and helped to coordinate visits with the Beltone staff so that residents might maintain their best hearing. June most loved singing in the church choir and sharing in the fellowship of song with friends everywhere, old and new.

June is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Haywood (Robert Palie) of Foxboro, MA, and Emily Eggens (Tim) of Dunbarton, NH. She is also survived by one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. She leaves so many family members and friends who have been a continuing source of joy and gratitude in her long life. She is predeceased by her husband Earl Haywood, and her sons John Haywood and Daniel Haywood, her foster daughter and dear friend Ruth Grout, June's sister Ruth Ann (Zinn) Wamsley and her parents D. Fay Zinn and Eunice (Spencer) Zinn.

A celebration of June's life will be held in Duvall Chapel, 100 Newbury Court in Concord, MA 01742 on August 21, 2021 at 11:00 and followed by refreshments.
