June M. Kelly passed peacefully in Brattleboro on November 11, 2014.
A graduate of Simmons College, June's career as an interior designer took second place to her devotion to her family. Originally from Boston, she greatly enjoyed the last several years of her life in Brattleboro, thanks to the boundless friendship and generosity of her neighbors, especially Annie Lafantano and Tom Singleton.
June delighted in being unconventional. She was equally at home in the cockpit of a Cessna 150 or behind the lens of a camera, face to face with a baby gorilla at the Franklin Park Zoo. She enjoyed travel and befriending people from all walks of life.
She was predeceased by her sons Brian and David Kelly. She is survived by her former husband and lifelong friend, Edward J. Kelly of Dummerston, VT, and her loving daughter, Susan M. Kelly of West Halifax, VT.
Those who knew her will remember June as the most cheerful person they ever met. Even in something as serious as online security ''' and yes, she was online even at the age of 87 ''' June chose as her password "happiness". To the end, she spoke and listened with enthusiasm, and laughed with infectious abandon. Her joy was her greatest gift to others.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. Donations in her memory can be made to the MSPCA ''' Angell Memorial Medical Center, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130. Condolences may be offered at www.kerwesterlund.com.
