Karen Messina

Mrs. Karen (Hmielowski) Messina, 72, of Derry, NH passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 after a period of declining health.

Born April 17, 1950, in Methuen, MA.  The daughter of the late Julius and Alice (Martin) Hmielowski.  Karen earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1972 from Lowell State College in Lowell, MA.  She retired from Columbia ASC Inc. in Lawrence, MA in 2019.

She enjoyed weekends in Maine, playing scrabble and knitting.  She was an avid New England Patriots fan and even enjoyed watching MMA.

Members of her family include her son, Jason Beall and his wife Jennifer of Manchester, NH; Grandchildren, Shawna Buettner and her husband Jake of Wakefield, MA, Nicholas Beall of Manchester, NH and Cameron Beall of West Hartford, CT; Sisters, Janet Poulin and her husband Larry of Salem, NH and Cynthia Dee and her husband Brian of Shirley, MA; The Messina family, and several nieces and nephews.  Karen was predeceased by her husband Joseph J. Messina who passed away in June 2019.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 5-7pm at Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH.  Interment will be held privately at a later date.
