KATHLEEN KALLUM HARRIS
LITTLETON Kathleen K. Harris, 67, passed away on April 16th at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH after a 2 year courageous battle with small cell carcinoma.
Kathleen was born at her grandparents home in Lincoln, NH on December 14, 1935, a daughter to Charles and Ruth (Simonds) Kallum. She attended Lincoln Public Schools and graduated from Lincoln High School. Kathleen received her degree in 1957 from Plymouth Teachers College.
Kathleen spent her college summers working at the Flume in Franconia Notch where she met her husband, David. In 1961 they moved to Littleton, NH where they raised their three children, Diane, Kathy, and David, Jr. Kathleen was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed sewing, cooking, and looking after the Grove Street Gang family. Some of Kathleens fondest memories included summers at Partridge Lake and winter weekends on the slopes of Mt. Eustis or Cannon Mountain learning to ski with her children. In the mid-70s Kathleen started substitute teaching in the Littleton Public School System. She later took a position with the NH Dept of Employment Security where she retired after 14 years of service. During her retirement years, Kathleen volunteered many hours with the Center for New Beginnings and various other civic organizations. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, swimming in the Pemigewasset with her twin sister, Helen, painting and gardening.
Surviving family members include a son, David E. Harris, Jr., daughter-in-law, Terri, and a grandson, Ryan of Marblehead, MA; a daughter, Diane Cocchiarella, son-in-law, Claude, granddaughter, Kristin, and grandson, Robbie of Niceville, FL; and a twin sister, Helen Gilman, of North Woodstock, NH. Her husband, David and daughter, Kathy predeceased her.
SERVICES At the request of the family, calling hours will be private. Prayers and eulogy will be held on Saturday, April 19th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Littleton with Rev. Fr. Roger Bilodeau as Celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Littleton Regional Hospital (Community Caravan), 600 St. Johnsbury Road, Littleton, NH 03561
