Kathleen Mary Podziewski

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Kathleen Mary Podziewski, 73, died June 2, 2007, at Courville Manchester. Mrs. Kathleen Podziewski was born on August 2, 1933, daughter of John T. and Lillian (O’Toole) Williams, in Worcester, MA, were she was raised along with her sister Joan and brother Thomas, both of whom have passed before her. She attended St. Vincent’s School of Nursing (Class of 1954). It was while attending St. Vincent’s that she met her future husband, Donald R. Podziewski of Mystic, CT, and they married on Jan. 29, 1955. After three years in Williamsburg where Mr. Podziewski served in the US Army as a lieutenant, the couple settled in Manchester, NH in the late 1950’s. Mrs. Podziewski worked as a registered nurse in hospitals and nursing homes in the Manchester area for the next three decades, ultimately specializing in Geriatric and Psychiatric Nursing. She and her family resided in area for nearly 30 years, where her children graduated from Manchester Memorial High School. She and her husband semi-retired to Sea Level, NC in 1988, where she continued to work part time in nursing while enjoying the coastal beaches of the Outer Banks and eventually finish her nursing career at the Sailor’s Snug Harbor. She returned to Manchester, NH in June 2004 after the passing of her husband and due to chronic debilitating illnesses, she resided at Courville Nursing Home Manchester NH. Known by her family and friends for her spirited sense of humor and love of laughter, she brought great love, joy and happiness to all of those around her. The love of her work and her ability to care for others surely influenced her daughters, all of whom are themselves registered nurses or professional caregivers. The love and support to her three sons gave them their independence and strength to pursue their own successful careers and businesses. Family members include her seven children; Christine (Tina) Ziemba of Manchester, NH Susan Olivier of Auburn, NH, Judy Podziewski of Yangon, Myanmar, Charles (Chip) Podziewski of Londonderry, NH, Lisa DeLangie of Manchester, NH, Daniel Podziewski of Hooksett, NH and Kyle Podziewski of Osaka, Japan; 26 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Her Memorial service will be held at the Great Island Common, New Castle, NH on June 30th from 12:00PM to 5:00PM with a service at 1:00PM.
