L. Harry Slade

Lewis Harry Slade, 74, of Vernon, VT, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 6, 2017, following a long battle with Parkinson's with Lewy Body Dementia. Harry was born August 10, 1942, to the late Lewis Franklin Slade and Viola Doris Keenan.

He entered roofing in his teens, married twice, and owned and operated Harry Slade Roofing for over thirty years; he then joined his son-in-law, James "Jim" Brow to form Slade & Brow Roofing. Jim continued the business when Harry retired to enjoy his leisure following sports, playing poker at Mohegan Sun Casino, spending winters with best friend Ted Nurmi, and sharing much time at church, Bible studies, cookouts, game nights, and events with his children, grandchildren, and church family.

He grew up in the Catholic Church, and later joined the Agape Christian Fellowship and dedicated his life to Jesus. He loved basketball and baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox, and in his early years played intramural softball as a pitcher, and basketball, but in the end the most important things to him were family and God.

He is survived by two brothers, Chris Slade of Brattleboro, VT, and Terry Slade of South Londonderry, VT; three sisters, Gloria Wilkins of South Londonderry, VT, Karen Renn of Sharon, VT, and Midge Kimball of Kissimee, FL; four children and fifteen grandchildren: Travis Slade of Putney, VT, Eric Slade and his wife Christina of Guilford, VT, and his children Lindsey, Hailey, Sydney, and Lacy; Brandy Brow and her husband James Brow of Vernon, VT, and their children Isaac, Chanyn, Solomon, Noah, Elijah, Natasha, and Jaeli; and Justin Slade and his wife Lucinda of Vernon, VT, and their children Aaron, Michael, Katelyn, and Kiley.
