Laurent G. "Larry" Deshaies, 69, of Medford Farms, beloved spouse of Mandy Leclerc Deshaies, died December 18, 2007, at the Elliot Hospital after a period of failing health due to a cardiac condition. He was born March 25, 1938, to Alfred and Beatrice (Huard) Deshaies in Manchester, NH. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and Bishop Bradley High School prior to joining the Air Force in 1955. He served for 13 years as a Communication Supervisor and 3 years in with the National Security Agency during the Vietnam Era. He was a graduate of White Pines College, 1980; Notre Dame College, 1983 and the University of Connecticut School of Social Work with a Masters Degree in 1986. He retired in 1992 from the NH Veterans Home as Chief of Social Work Service due to illness after nine years of State service. Prior to that he was a purchasing agent for a number of local companies. Most recently he had worked part-time for the West Bridge Treatment Facility. Larry was five year volunteer for the Goffstown Police Department serving as a coordinator assisting the Prosecutor at the district court. He was a long time umpire of softball having instituted an umpire school for the Amateur Softball Association. He was a member of the American Legion, The Disabled Veterans and the Precious Blood League of 1000 Men. He was also a friend of Bill W for many years. IN HIS LIFE: Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 26 years, Mandy Leclerc Deshaies, his son, Randy and Connie Deshaies and their two children, Carissa and Adam. His daughter, Paula & Duane Burnor and their two sons, Christopher and Ryan. He also leaves his daughter of 26 years, Judy (McLaughlin) & Tim Desmarais and their two children, Chelsea and Riley. He also leaves a brother & sister-in-law Robert and Marilyn Deshaies. Other family members are sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Dr. Gerry Beaulieu, Dan and Gail Leclerc, as well as, Bill and Mary Leclerc. His one remaining aunt, Rita Duval, and cousin, Mary Givens, also survive him. Many loving nieces and nephews. Two very dear friends, Bob Armour and Richie Dunn. He also leaves the mother of Randy and Paula, Priscilla Deshaies and her relatives, who remained a part of his life. He was very sociable, loving and caring man who will be remembered for his great wit. All who knew him, especially his grandchildren, dearly loved Larry. He was a constant part of their lives whether it was attending their events, providing transportation to appointments or babysitting. Their recent writings to him revealed they considered him their hero and MVP. SERVICES: Calling hours will be Saturday, from noon to 2 PM, at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester. A Life Celebration Candle Light Ceremony will follow.
