LAURETTE L. SWEENEY


MANCHESTER – Laurette L. (Girard) Sweeney, 71, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Sweeney was born in Goffstown, NH on March 23, 1939, the daughter of the late Roger W. and Lorette (Boisvert) Girard. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

She was employed for 38 years as an executive assistant for Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority, retiring in March 2010.

For many years, Mrs. Sweeney was a den mother and committee woman with the Boy Scouts.

Her hobbies and interests include; numerous arts and crafts, watching birds, reading and trips to the beach. Mrs. Sweeney also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Members of her family include; her husband of 51 years, David F. Sweeney, of Manchester; four sons, Kenneth T. Sweeney, of Raymond, NH; Shawn P. Sweeney, of Hooksett, NH; Brian L. Sweeney, of Manchester; Bruce R. Sweeney, also of Manchester; two daughters, Linda S. Ziemba and Kathleen A. Czaja, both of Manchester; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Girard, of Hooksett, NH; Dennis Girard, of Manchester; seven sisters, Joan Berthiaume, of Manchester; Elaine Kastrinas, of Fargo, ND; Lorraine Vincent and Jackie Johnston, both of Allenstown, NH; Connie Bissonnette, of Laconia, NH; Sandra Allard, of Hooksett, NH; Rita Chavanelle, of Goffstown, NH; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David F. “Butch” Sweeney, Jr., who died in 1977.

SERVICES: A time of gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A Celebration of Life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM . Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, in Bedford.
