Lawrence V. Hampton

Lawrence V. Hampton, Sr., 72, of 123 Blue Heron Drive, Portsmouth, NH died January 28, 2001. He was born in New York City on January 15, 1928, the son of the late Luther and Irene (Harvey) Hampton and lived in Portsmouth for the past 27 years. He was a US Navy Veteran for 22 years serving in W.W. II, Korean Conflict and Viet Nam Conflict. Lawrence was a member of the Amercian Legion Post 0006. He collected coins. Family members include his wife of 46 years, Hattie (Uddyback) Hampton of Lynn, Ma., two sons, Lawrence V. Hampton, Jr. of Elliot, Maine and Sebastian Hampton of Lorton, Virginia, two daughters, Brenda Hampton of Naples, Florida and Sharie Hampton of Dover, NH, five grandchildren, a brother Martin Hampton of Mount Vernon, New York, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: A calling hour is at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 with the service immediately following in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 AM. A committal service will be at Boscawen State Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Thursday afternoon a 1 PM with full Navy military service.
