Lawrence Michael Smith Jr., 76, of Franklin, NH, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on May 17, 2019 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, after 3 previous successful battles with cancer. He was born in Abington, MA on October 22, 1942 to the late Lucille Taylor Smith and Lawrence Smith.
He was educated in MA before enlisting and honorably serving in the United States Army for 20 years, serving two tours in Vietnam. He spent his career as an independent contractor after leaving the Army and before retirement.
In his spare time, Lawrence loved to play Texas Holdem poker at the Belmont Lodge where he made many great friends and enjoyed traveling.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter Chenoa Plank, who he loved and missed very much.
He leaves behind his sons Lawrence Smith III and his wife Bridgett of Franklin, NH, and Michael Lawrence Smith of Boston, MA; daughters Rhonda Smith of Salt Lake City, UT, Stephanie Kemmish of Elko, NV, and Naomi Whitaker and her husband Brett of Loudon, NH; grandchildren Maya Plank, Christina Plank, Christopher Smith, Mariah Kemmish, Travis Kemmish, Jacob Kemmish, Briante Whitaker, Tianna Whitaker Temple and her husband Jakob and Michael Eli Smith as well as great grandson Samuel Plank; brothers Jimmy Smith, David Smith, and Frank Smith; and sister Janet Close, as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was loved and will be missed by all.
SERVICES: A graveside committal with military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 29th at 12 pm at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, located at 110 Daniel Webster Hwy. Boscawen.
