Lena G. (Gagne) Ballard, 90, formerly of 435 Union Street and of Meeting house at Riverfront, died September 29, 2000 at Villa Crest Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester on August 9, 1910, the daughter of Joseph and Odile (Beaudoin) Gagne and had been a lifelong resident of the City. She was the widow of Alfred Ballard who died in 1993. For many years, she worked with her husband at Ballard Brothers Press. She has been a parishioner of St. Anne Church. Family members include three daughters, Mrs. William (Carmen) Thibeault of Canton, MA, Mrs. Constance Gaiero of Manchester and Mrs. David (Vivian) Petty of Bedford; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a brother, Roland Gagne of Germany; four sisters, Flo Tibey of Moultonboro, Del Massoniti of Gulfport, FL, Cecile Boulanger of Manchester and Jeanne Dusseault of Manchester; and many nephews and nieces. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday evening from 5 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM in St. Anne Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
