Lena R. (Demers) Desrochers, 92, of 467 Youville Street, died May 13, 2006 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home. She was born in Manchester on July 25, 1913, the daughter of Alfred and Lena (Fontaine) Demers and had been a lifelong resident of the City. She had worked in the Student Union at St. Anselm College for several years and retired from the Hartford Insurance Group. She volunteered at CMC and was a parishioner of the Church of the Transfiguration. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, reading and eating chocolate. She was the widow of Lionel H. Desrochers who died in 1993 and was also predeceased by a daughter, Jocelyn De Nauw who died in 1985. Family members include three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Carr and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Gauthier, both of Manchester and Mrs. Michael (Susan) Nye of Somersworth; two sons, Richard Desrochers of Ballston Lake, NY and Peter Desrochers of Keene; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Church of the Transfiguration. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
