Leo J. Chakmakas

Leo J. Chakmakas, 80, of 219 Fieldcrest Road, Manchester, NH died at his home on April 8, 2002. He was born February 2, 1922, in Lowell, Ma., the son of the late John and Panagiota (Markos) Chakmakas and had been a resident of New Hampshire for the past 50 years. He was a W.W. Navy Veteran and was a member of the American Legion Jutras Post. Leo developed retail displays for many local department stores. He is the widower of Irma (Grandmaison) Chakmakas who just died April 1, 2002. Family members include his son John Chakmakas of Bedford, NH, a daughter Catherine Proctor of Manchester, three grandchildren, two brothers, Larry Chakmakas of New York and George Chakmakas of Manchester, a sister Olga Chakmakas of Lowell, Ma., several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. The Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
