Leon G. Benoit, 83, of Gibsonton, FL, died October 3, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester. He was born in Manchester on November 26, 1919, the son of George and Helene (Houle) Benoit had had been a resident of the city for most of his life before moving to Florida twenty years ago. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a self employed cement mason for many years. He was a 35 year member of the Brickmason's Union Local 6. He was a quiet and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family members include his wife of 55 years, Ellen (Kent) Benoit; two sons, Michael Benoit of Hilton Head, SC and Bruce Benoit of Manchester; three daughters, Deborah Donahue of Goffstown, Cynthia Anderson of Derry and Cathy Corcoran of Auburn; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday morning from 10 to 11 AM. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. A committal service with military honors will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
