Leon G Methot

Leon G. Methot, 52, of Weare died October 8, 2006 at Catholic Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Methot was born on August 15, 1954 in Manchester the son of Robert J. and Marie Rose (Deziel) Methot. He attended Trinity High School, met and married his high school sweetheart, Denise and the couple moved to Weare in 1982. Leon joined the National Guard, serving for almost 10 years before becoming a full time army veteran in 1991 when he served in Kuwait in Desert Storm. He had previously worked for several alarm and electrical companies in the area before going to Kuwait. Mr. Methot was heavily involved in his local community. He was a former Weare firefighter and was a volunteer on the Weare Rescue Squad. He was on the Board of Selectman for three terms where he presently served as the chairman. He was a member of the zoning board, planning board and finance committee. Although committed to his community he was a proud father committed to his family. Mr. Methot was a former Cub Master and assistant basketball coach at the Villa Augustina School. He was a devoted husband as well. A son, Leon G. Methot, Jr. who died in 1975, predeceased Leon.

Family members include; his wife of 32 years, Denise (Gamelin) Methot; three sons, Leon D. Methot of Weare, Lance Methot of Goffstown and Lucas Methot of Manchester; his parents of Manchester; four brothers, Norman Methot of Manchester, Donald Methot of Manchester, Henry Methot of La Luz, New Mexico and Philip Methot of Weare; three sisters, Muriel Allaire of Palm Bay, FL, Diane Roberge of Manchester and Anita Boisvert of Goffstown; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5 o’clock until 8 o’clock at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Lawrence Church in Goffstown with internment in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
