Leonard E. Cross

LEONARD E. CROSS Leonard E. Cross, 79, of Derry, NH, died March 4, 2006 at the VA Medical Center, in Manchester. Mr. Cross was born on September 21, 1926, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Raymond and Dalila (Sansoucie) Cross. He was a resident of Derry for the past 3 years coming from Pinellas Park, FL, where he lived for 4 years. He also resided in St. Louis, Missouri for 28 years. He received his secondary education in the Manchester School System and received undergraduate degrees in the armed forces. He was a 14-year veteran having served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. He was employed as an engineer at McDonald Douglas for 28 years. Mr. Cross was a member of the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post #2, in Manchester. He was an avid reader and history buff. Mr. Cross leaves behind his wife of 10 years; Doris E. (Bernier) Glidden-Cross, of Derry, NH; his step-mother, Frances Cross, of Litchfield; 1 son, Joseph Cross of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; 2 daughters, Buffy Cross and Felicia Price, both of Florida; 1 step-son, Leonard Desjarlais, of Candia; 2 step daughters, Janet Desjarlais, of Manchester; Diane Mariotti, of Auburn; and several grandchildren. There are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, in Boscawen. It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 3 Bridge Street, Newton, MA 02458, or to The American Cancer Society, 360 Route 101 Unit 501, Bedford, NH 03110, in memory of Mr. Cross. Arrangements are under the direction of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester.
