Leonard F Keenan

February 2, 1939 — April 6, 2025

Manchester

Leonard F. Keenan, 86, of Manchester, N.H., passed away with his entire family by his side on April 6, 2025, after a period of declining health.

Born on February 2, 1939, in Manchester, Leonard was the son of the late Leonard H. and Laurette M. (Marcoux) Keenan. He was also predeceased by his beloved sisters, Mary Castiglioni and Patricia Morse.

Leonard graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1956 and went on to earn his degree from New Hampshire College in 1958. He spent much of his professional life with the United States Postal Service, where he served as Fleet Manager for New Hampshire, Northern Massachusetts, and Maine until his retirement in 1992.

Leonard was deeply devoted to his family, known as a true gentleman and a steady patriarchal figure across generations. He cherished spending time with loved ones through activities such as camping, snowmobiling, and skiing. He had a great passion for NASCAR and frequently attended races, sharing the excitement with family and friends. Leonard also had a lifelong love for motorcycles and enjoyed exploring New Hampshire's scenic roads. His career and passion for vehicles extended into his personal life, where he generously repaired cars and trucks for family and friends from the custom garage at his home. Additionally, Leonard took incredible care and carried great pride in maintaining the pristine landscaping of the home he shared with his beloved wife for sixty years. In addition to his dedication to his immediate family, Leonard compassionately stepped into a grandfatherly role for extended family members during times of unimaginable loss.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Yvette (Blanchette) Keenan, as well as his three daughters: Joanne and her husband Mark Allard; Diane and her husband Robert Cormier; and Marianne Keenan and her partner Charles Finefrock.

Leonard also leaves behind six grandchildren—Melissa Garland, Robert Cormier, Theresa Kavalek, Jonathan Allard, Christine Emerson, and Brianne Bugbee—and eight great-grandchildren: Steven Kavalek, Owen and Morgan Cormier, Jaxton Garland, Shawn, Connor, and Logan Emerson, and Bryson Bugbee. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A man of deep faith and active community involvement, Leonard was a lifetime member of the League of 1,000 Men at the Precious Blood Monastery and a longtime member and past president of the Southern NH Snow Slickers.
