Leopold R. Brunette

MANCHESTER - Leopold R. Brunette, 87, a lifelong resident of Manchester, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2021. Leo was the husband of the late and beloved Marilyn (Marcotte) Brunette with who he shared fifty-five years of marriage.

Leo was born on December 21, 1933 and was the son of the late Oscar and Yvonne (Heneault) Brunette. At the age of 19, Leo joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict until his Honorable Discharge in 1956.

After returning home, Leo attended school to become a Barber. At the age of 24, he opened Brunette Barber Shop in Manchester where he remained until his retirement. He loved talking with his customers and getting to know their families and ultimately cutting hair for the many generations that followed.

Leo will best be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Marilyn, the love of his life. He was happiest when enjoying and celebrating life's special moments with his children, grandchildren, and family. They were his greatest pride and joy and his love for them was beyond measure. He loved documenting and preserving memories whether he was in front of or behind the camera. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed watching western movies (especially John Wayne movies) and had a passion for continuous learning and self-improvement. He loved life and will be remembered for his kind, loving soul, as well as his smile and infectious laugh as he welcomed everyone into his and his wife's home. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

He leaves behind his son, Lee Brunette of Manchester and his daughter, Carrie Shaw and her husband Stephen of Brentwood; son-in-law, Tom Viviano and his wife, Kristy of Hampton; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Liam, Kyle, Mikayla, Jake, Zachary and Kayleigh and his great-granddaughter, Azliani. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Loughlin and many nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his daughter, Anne-Marie Viviano and his granddaughter, Alexa Rae Jane Viviano and several of his siblings.
