Leslie Maurice Tilton, NH Age 96 of Tilton, died Wednesday December 21st at the New Hampshire Veterans Home after a period of declining health. He was born on June 28, 1909 in St. Albans, England the Son of Mortiz and Lucy (Collis) Katzenstein. A resident of Tilton, Leslie had also lived in Manchester, NH Pittsfield, NH and Brooklyn, NY where he had retired from Harris Corporation as a factory electrician. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, as a front line combat field telephone operator in the 28th Infantry Division, 110th Regiment in the Battle for Europe. He had fought in Normandy, Northern France, The Ardennes (Battle of The Bulge), and the Rhineland campaigns. His meritorious actions earned him the Combat Infantryman Badge and the prestigious Bronze Star. Les enjoyed traveling, classical music and staying current with the newest electronic devices. His pleasant personality was admired by his extended family, as well as his many friends and acquaintances. After retiring to New Hampshire, he became involved with numerous civic organizations and was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Les is survived by his two Sisters; Bertha Hammen and Jennie Weydemann, both of Boscawen, NH. Sister-In-Law Eva Maurice of Concord. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who adored him as an uncle. Les was pre-deceased by his three Brothers; William Maurice, Cecil Miller and Fred Maurice. There are no calling hours. Burial will be on December 28th at 11:00AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery (chapel) 110 D.W. Highway Rt. 3 in Boscawen, NH.
