Liana Nalen, 83, of Manchester, NH, passed away at Elliot Hospital on January 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, MA, she was daughter of the late Charles DiStefano and Mary (Abramo) Lemmo. She was the devoted wife of her husband, Louis "Lou" Nalen for 63 years.
Liana was raised and educated in the Boston, MA area, where she later raised her own family in Winthrop, Somerville and Lynn. She was incredibly creative and loved spending her time doing arts and crafts such as knitting, sewing, ceramics, and jewelry making. For several years, she was the owner of Lori-Lee's Ceramic Studio in Somerville. Liana and her husband enjoyed their camping trips to New Hampshire very much and decided to make it home in 1989. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was paramount in Liana's life. She was the beloved matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed by all.
Liana was pre-deceased by her brother Jerry DiStefano. She is survived by her husband, Louis "Lou" Nalen; eight children, including her son, Robert Nalen and his wife Joy; her son, David Nalen and his wife Rebeckah; her son, Michael Nalen and his wife Susan Strickland; her son, Thomas Nalen; her son, Gary Nalen and his wife Theresa; her son, Scott Nalen and his wife Tina; her daughter, Rita Blake and her husband, William; and her son, Denis Nalen and his wife Kimberly; her brother, Charles DiStefano Jr.; her sisters, Annette DiStefano and Charlotte Sevedge; as well as thirty-two grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Services will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019 with a memorial gathering from 10-11 am and memorial service at 11am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend.
