It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda R. Olsen, on July 29, 2024 at the age of 78. She shared over 59 loving years with her devoted husband, John, creating a beautiful life together, filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Linda was a talented quilter and knitter, creating cherished heirlooms for family and friends. She learned these skills from her mother and grandmother, and her creations have brought warmth and joy to many over the decades.
In her lifetime, Linda traveled across the country by planes, trains, boats, and automobiles, visiting all 50 states. She and John enjoyed their time in Hawaii, and had an amazing time panning for gold in Alaska with best friends Don & Janet Plant. Vegas may have been the most frequent destination, though New Hampshire always held a special place in her heart.
An avid card player, Linda cherished her Tuesday afternoon games with the ladies, as well as any opportunity to play cribbage, or sit at the PaiGow poker tables. She was known for her love of competition, whether it was for pocket change or bragging rights.
Throughout her career, Linda worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for several companies, retiring from her position at St. Theresa’s in 2005. Following her retirement, she and John moved to their lake house on Pine River Pond, where they enjoyed many happy years.
In 2018, they moved to the Brookridge community in Hooksett, NH, where Linda quickly made many friends and became an active member of the community. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, love of life, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, John; daughter Karen and her wife Sonya; son James and his wife Lori; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Predeceased by her son Michael, parents Charles and Louise Morse, and sister Barbara Grenier.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, August 6th from 2:00-3:00pm at The Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A memorial service will follow at 3pm in the funeral home. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. Linda will be interred at The New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery privately.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made in her memory to The Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston.
