Lionel P. Gagne, 79 of Franklin, NH and Largo, FL died peacefully on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family members at his home in Franklin, NH.

Mr. Gagne was born on January 4th, 1943, in Manchester, NH. He was the son of the late Francois J. and Lucienne (Juneau) Gagne. He grew up in Manchester and attended Saint Marie High School; Graduating class 1961.

Lionel was a veteran and served in the United States Army from 1961-1968 as a Specialist First Class before his honorable discharge.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Gagne was employed as a sales representative and worked for JJ Nissen Baking Company.

During his retirement he enjoyed spending half the year in his home in Franklin, NH enjoying the beautiful New England summers and half the year in his Largo, FL residence where he and his wife spent much of their time with many new friends enjoying and participating in club activities of the retirement community as well as enjoying the warm weather. Lionel and his wife also very much enjoyed their daily walks and bike rides in Largo. Retirement also gave the opportunity to travel and explore new places together.

Mr. Gagne was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, always had an ear ready to listen, a good story to tell, and always ready to share in laughter and good times. He enjoyed hunting with family early on in his life and had many fond memories of those times. You would always find him cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many sporting events through the years. If the Patriots or Red sox were playing, he would always watch and root for the New England team. Mr. Gagne was also well known to play many card games with his favorite people and was always up for a trip to Foxwoods and Hardrock Casino.

Lionel was married for 61 years to his high school sweetheart, Jeanne D. (Cote) Gagne, of Manchester NH. They were blessed with a large, loving family that included their son Steven L. Gagne and his significant other Melissa Underhill. Their infant daughter Sharon E. Gagne, who passed at birth. Their daughters Stacey M. Carr and her husband Thomas; Leslie A, Sweet and her husband Patrick; Sheryl L. Hickey and her husband Timothy; Robynn S. Petrain and her husband Timothy. Proud Grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Jacob, and Lucas Gagne; Alyssa and Nicole Carr; Brooke and Bryan Sweet; Charlotte and Nicholas Hickey; Mya Petrain, and one great granddaughter Vivienne (Carr) Williams. His siblings include his brothers Donald, Julien, and Paul Gagne and one sister Yvonne (Gagne) Turgeon. He was predeceased by his sisters Annette (Gagne) Gregoire, Fleurette (Gagne) Jubinville and his brother Robert Gagne. His sisters-in-laws include Terry (Cote) Beaudet and Helen (Cote) Brisson and her husband Ron.

Services: There will be no calling hours. A private committal ceremony will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. A Celebration of life will be held on a future date.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Gagne.
