Lisa Ann Martin, age 65, peacefully passed away on July 21, 2023, at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center in Manchester, NH. It was the same city where she was born and raised, entering the world on June 7, 1958, as the daughter of the late Paul and Nancy (Reuter) Manseau.
Lisa attended Central High School before settling down in Concord, NH, where she raised her family. Lisa also has a special connection with Florida, spending 14 years there, sharing a close bond with her mother.
For a significant part of her life, Lisa worked as a dedicated office manager for the family business, Bumper to Bumper Auto Body. In her earlier years, she also worked at the bakery at Shaw's in Concord.
Throughout her life, Lisa exhibited an adventurous spirit that flourished from her early days. She found joy in the great outdoors, especially horseback riding and excelling as a skilled downhill skier. Her talents and determination led her to victory in numerous skiing competitions as a young teenager.
However, life presented her with a formidable challenge in the 1980s when a snowmobile accident left her with a brain injury and paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors gave her a bleak prognosis, offering only 20 years to live, yet Lisa’s fighting spirit defied expectations. Demonstrating incredible strength and determination, she overcame numerous challenges brought on by the injury. Lisa’s tenacity led her to regain her independence and embrace life to the fullest. She was even able to ski again through the NH adaptive ski program, proving to herself and others that her resilience knew no bounds.
During her journey of healing, Lisa found a supportive community through the Brain Injury Foundation. There, she formed deep connections with others who shared similar experiences, finding solace and understanding in their company. Lisa also found comfort in her Christian faith, regularly attending service in both Florida and New Hampshire as well as watching online services when she could no longer attend in person.
Above all else, Lisa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who cherished time spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her sons, Christopher Martin (Kelly) of Contoocook, NH and Craig Martin (Caroline) of Framingham, MA; her brothers, Peter Manseau (Patricia Ritz) of Bedford, NH and Jacob Manseau (Shaunna) of Thornton, NH; her sisters, Philena Kaplan (Brian) of Wellesley, MA and Euginnia Seyferth (Brodie) of Vail, CO; her grandchildren, Steven, Cameron and Sawyer Martin; her former husband and longtime friend, Steve Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her youngest son, Shaun Martin.
