Lisa M. Shechter

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Lisa Marie Shechter, who died peacefully with her family at her side after nearly a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Born October 4th, 1963, to late Rose Marie Eastman and Willis (Bill) Grant Hill, Lisa was a Concord native who enjoyed life in the Granite State. She leaves a devoted husband, David Scott Shechter, two beautiful daughters, Danielle Marie Lessard and Rebecca Rose Young, and a complete joy for her, her granddaughter, Riley Marie Lessard. She also leaves behind her brother Richard and sister-in-law Coleen Hill, her niece Heather Hill and her wife Anna Hullinger, sister-in-law Stacy and her husband Eric, and nephew Jacob Schwartz.

Lisa loved to travel and found a new passion later in life in traveling with her husband. Together they explored many places and Lisa had many a story and song written about those travels, which became songs of travelling legend. She had a dedicated crew of travelers that she grew to love and found moments to laugh and swap stories about their experiences and joys often. Lisa enjoyed summer theater with her mother and after her passing, with her brother for nearly 25 years at the New London Barn Playhouse. She was an accomplished performer and spent many years as a regular in her temple’s Purimshpiel. Her joy when singing and acting was infectious to all those around her. Her presence at this event will be missed.

Lisa was also fiercely family-oriented and made every opportunity to get cousins, aunts, and uncles together for holidays and the family reunion in the summer. She spent nearly every summer at York Beach, either at her cousin Kathy's cottage or a rental within walking distance of the beach, to catch every sunrise and swimming day she could muster. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet her always called her a friend. Lisa will be missed by many. May she find peace knowing that she touched many, left love in her wake, and will always be remembered as an amazing Sister, Mother, Aunt, Wife, and Friend to so many.

Services: Funeral will be held Sunday, May 18th, 1:00 PM at Temple Beth Jacob in Concord, NH with interment to follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery.
