Lola B. (Burley) Jones, 92, passed away on July 14, 2025, at home surrounded by her family and friends after a long illness.
Lola was born in Grafton, NH, on May 9, 1933, to Ralph and Nettie (Lord) Burley. She attended Boscawen Elementary School and graduated from Penacook High School. She met her life partner, Ernest Paul Jones Sr. at a square dance in Bradford, NH, and they enjoyed 55 years together. Besides square dancing on Saturday nights, their local supper club, Webster Grange, and yearly camping trips at KOA, they enjoyed raising their children along with their combined fifteen siblings and their families.
Lola worked at many businesses in the area until she settled into a position at Merrimack County Nursing Home, working as a pastry cook. With additional training, within a year, she became the Executive Housekeeper, her dream job! Lola worked for 47 years and retired at the age of seventy-five. She spent her time catching up with family and friends and was able to travel with her daughter Jody and her family nineteen time to Cancun, Mexico.
In Spring of 2024, Lola was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and a few months to live. Against doctors’ advice, Lola chose to fight and stretched those few months into over a year, creating friendships with her doctors and caregivers at the Payson Center at Concord Hospital.
Lola was predeceased by her husband E. Paul Jones Sr., and her daughter-in-law Doris (Spenard) Jones.
She is survived by son Ernest Paul Jones Jr. of Boscawen, and grandchildren Benjamin Jones of Salisbury, Marcy jones of Manchester, and Eliza Flores and Dan of Bedford; son Douglas Jones and Brenda of Penacook, and grandchildren Andrew Jones and Rilee, and Lilly Jones of Salisbury; daughter Jody Jones and Margaret of Northport FL; stepchildren and grandkids.
Services will be held on July 28, 2025, at 11AM at Boscawen Congregational Church, 12 High St., Boscawen NH, followed by a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Corn Hill Rd, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Payson Center for Cancer Care, NH, Granite VNA Hospice, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
